Public Speaking Skills Training: Creative Ideas for Public Speaking Workshops

Great topics, great ideas, new and great ways of saying old things, this is what the audience is looking for when listening to you. When public speaking, we should have our research and homework done. This is what makes the difference between professionals and wannabes.

Good news is that we are in a fantastic era to research, investigate and get all the knowledge we will ever need in our public speaking speeches. The times of spending huge amounts of time at libraries, studying and researching subjects are over. If we have an internet connection, we just need a couple of minutes to get all the information we need to put together any given public speaking speech.

This also means we have no excuses for not doing our homework! Investigation is, by far, one of the most important tools any speaker should have in mind. Investigating your subject and everything it implies will give you the power to stand up and speak confidently to your audience.

Furthermore, if we Google our word out, we will find all the subjects that are related to the information we are looking for, making the assembling of our public speaking speech far easier than ever before in human history.

While doing internet research, have in mind what is the main aim of your public speaking speech: Will you use it to convince? Will you be raising funds? Do you want to get more votes? What is your purpose with your public speaking speech?

The objective of your public speaking speech will help you finding the most relevant information and discarding all the data that you don't need. Remember that you have limited time, thus, limited aspects of the subject should be mentioned in your public speaking speech.

To have great ideas to talk about, you can do even more than just research on the internet.

Emulate: What great ideas had others speakers had and could be of use to you? Remember to put your own twist onto them, in order not to copy anything from others. For example: A friend of mine, Gerry Roberts, once entered with a motorbike into a stage in order to make a point in his public speaking speech! That's awesome, but I don't think I would enter with a motorbike into a stage in my life! That worked for him because he is bold and aggressive in his public speaking speeches, but I'm more conservative at speaking. You get the idea...

Think like your audience does: What kind of information will be of use to them? What could you tell them that will be of immediate application in their lives? People are looking for knowledge that will make their lives easier. If you can provide them with that kind of knowledge, you will do great while public speaking.

Use rare findings and studies: This requires a bit more research than normal, but it pays its price. Using breakthroughs, findings, studies and rare cases will make you look far more professional than just sticking to your subject. How can you link the latest science discovering on hair loosing with your subject? There you have a puzzle to solve! You know what they say: You cannot fight science.

Having these strategies in mind and doing your proper research, great ideas to implement in your public speaking speeches will come to you, virtually without any effort. Unless you think spending time searching the web and getting smarter is an effort!
