Public Speaking Skills Training: Public Speaking Seminars For Success - Simple Strategies That Work
Is there a public speaking strategy for success? You could attend public speaking classes or courses or even get a public speaking coach. Alternatively you can buy public speaking books. Here is a simply strategy that works.
You want to be able to stand before your audience without any fear and deliver the content with conviction and be able to bring value to the audience. You want to captivate the audience such that they are glad that they attended. Hold that image of you being a great success in your mind as you go through the steps as described below.
In public speaking, the first thing you need to focus on is the content. The content must be packaged in a way that is easy for the audience to understand. The intent is not to show how much you know. Rather, how much of the content that the audience can use after having listened to you.
The next important point is for you to be able to connect with your audience. You want them to bend forward to want to catch every word you say, and to go away feeling that this was time well spent. The last thing you should do is stand there and present what you have prepared in a boring and dull manner.
Throw away beliefs like "Great speakers are born". This is absolutely not true. Think back about how you can excitedly jabber away about something that you like. Is it a television show? Or your hobby or your favorite game? Think of how you can bring that same enthusiasm to your public speaking.
No doubt that you may not love public speaking as much as your hobby or your favorite game, but if you have to do it, you might as well find a way to enjoy it. There is a simple secret to this.
Start first with an outline of the content. Then look at it from the audience perspective. If you were in the audience, what will you think? If you cannot critique yourself, get a friend to do it.
Once you are comfortable that the structure is acceptable, and then start adding contents. Research where necessary. You might find to your surprise that as you fill in more content, you start getting more comfortable. You will also have a feel of where the content is not smooth. Work on it a bit more. You just might find it getting exciting.
There might be that negative voice in your head saying that you did not like doing this public speaking activity.
Just ignore it and keep on at the preparation. If you let that voice get louder, your job will be that much more difficult. So, if it is difficult, it will be by your choice.
Test again with a friend. Use the feedback and improve it. Then, you must rehearse, rehearse and rehearse.
Inject some jokes. That will help. Try and include jokes that are related to the content. Otherwise, it will be awkward and very artificial.
You have worked as hard as you can and now it is time for the public speaking activity. All that is left is for you to speak. Do just that! Speak! Tell the audience all about the topic in an easy flowing manner so that listening and understanding is easy. Crack a few relevant jokes and get the audience to start loosening up.
Try out the above simple public speaking strategy for success the next time you need to speak in public. To further improve yourself, do look for other resources that will help you further improve in public speaking.
