Public Speaking Skills Training: Public Speaking Seminar - Commitment - The Key to Response

Five years ago I became acquainted with Robert Cialdini's book Influence. It was then that my thinking about consistency and dependability started to come together. Though now retired, I once enjoyed a 33 year stretch that I did not call in sick one single time. So, I know what consistency means.

But, some how our present generation of people do not understand this simple principle.

It's obvious that I have my ideas about commitment and we are not going to discuss them here. What we are going to discuss is the commitment and the results of that mindset that your prospects do expect. They don't give a hoot what I think. It's what they think that really counts.

And if you are a beginning speaker or presenter, you can first take the pattern I'm about to show you to heart and then, secondly, teach these ideas to your audiences, and here's a visual aid to help you do it.

First, the heart to Commit to a person, people or group. That first means you respect them. That also implies that you like them. And since you may like to sell them something, it should mean you want very much to build an on-going relationship with them.

Their future and well-being is vital to you.

Second, it means that you intend to be Consistent about the commitment you've made to them. Their on-going friendship is of long term importance to you. If you do a blog, you will post regularly on that blog. They will come to depend on the regularity of your posts.

Third, within the content you present, will be the innate desire to Effect and make a difference in their lives, work and/or play. Through your commitment and consistency, you will desire to take it to the next level, and add real Value to their lives.

Fourth, is the idea that your people actually gain a measurable Benefit from what you have given them in the past and are continuing to provide for them. Even if it's free information that you are giving them, they need to see effect and value but also a better life.

Fifth, only then can and will they Respond to any commercial offer that you make to them. What a shame that so many people are hit and miss about the relationship they have with their prospects and customers.

Get to know them. Know their pain. Make it so they know you feel their pain. And, last but not least, help them cure their pain. Be their solution!

Help them lose weight. Make more money. Have more friends. And gain a bigger response from their prospects and customers. It all starts with a firm, undying commitment to your audiences or people.
