Public Speaking Class Advice - How to Be a Better Speaker

Public speaking is a fear of almost phobic proportions for many people. Ask many of the people you know to stand up in front of an audience and talk and you will find many of them reduced to quivering jellies.

The good news is that it is actually relatively easy to become better at public speaking with a few simple public speaking techniques and tips.

If you are really committed to being a better speaker then you can join an organization such as Toastmasters International. This is one of the best public speaking trainings you will find but you may not find a group in your area.

If you can't find a Toastmasters group then you could always invest in a book or expensive public speaking training program. There are a lot available and the price varies depending on what you are looking for.

Alternatively, there are some simple public speaking tips you can apply which will help you to improve your public speaking skills.

One of the best and most effective public speaking techniques is mental rehearsal. This means mentally imagining (i.e. visualizing) yourself delivering a speech in a confident manner.

The effectiveness of mental rehearsal has been proved scientifically with sports people. It has been proven that if a basketball play visualizes shooting a hoop they can improve their skills just from that imagination.

Sounds crazy, I know, but it is absolutely true and highly effective. Your sub-conscious mind does not know the difference between reality and imagination so if you imagine something it thinks it is really.

Want to prove this? Imagine something that makes you feel upset or frightens you and you will actually feel the emotions.

In order for this to be effective you need to really imagine it so that you are actually there in your mind. This means you are fully associated with the visualization and seeing events as if you are looking out of your own eyes rather than seeing yourself from a third person perspective.

These are just two simple pieces of public speaking advice that will help you be more confident speaking in front of an audience. Apply them and you will notice a big difference in your skills as a speaker.
