Public Speaking Skills Training: How to Overcome Anxiety - Special Public Speaking Classes Techniques

If you are wondering how to overcome public speaking anxiety there are some ways to fix the panic. Some people have more anxiety about public speaking than they are going to the dentist. But rarely is there physical pain in speaking. If you just remember some basic things before you go onstage you might be able to avoid that sense of doom.

Here are a few pre-public speaking anxiety tips:

Get enough rest. There is nothing worse than being tired and groggy and suffering from stage fright right before you are going on. Make sure you get plenty of rest the night before a presentation and on the day. Try not to have to do speaking preparation work the night before.

If you are to deliver it at the end of the day, there is a technique called resting in place. Make sure your mind goes into down time before you go to the presentation. You may not be able to snooze at work, but you can do a head clearing.

If you really want to know an important technique how to overcome public speaking anxiety, use breathing exercises to give your mind that down time. Breathing exercises before your presentation can mean the difference between doing well and failing. Use deep cleansing breathes to oxygenate your brain. We think much more clearly and relax naturally when oxygen is feeding our brain cells and if we control our breathing we won't hyperventilate.

Steer clear of food and substances that change your mood and heart rate. Coffee, tea, sugar, nicotine, certain herbal treatments can all through you for a loop in a presentation. Coffee can give you the jitters, sugar can give you quick rush followed by a crash and nicotine can give you a quick fix followed by a headache. Being jazzed up on chemicals can take the wind out of the sails of the best presenters, but if you are struggling with how to overcome public speaking anxiety it can be a real "buzz kill". Resist the temptation.

Use visualization to "see" the type of outcome you are looking for. Focus on how you see this going and how you want the message to be conveyed. If you are comfortable with the material you are presenting you should be able to visualize how the people receiving the information will respond.

Remember, the only thing that will help you understand how to overcome public speaking anxiety is to focus on the task at hand and practice using specialized techniques.
