Public Speaking Skills Training: Public Speaking Classes - Do You Have a Fear of Public Speaking?
Most people do, and for reasons they can't understand. Fear of public speaking can make you feel nervous if not downright scared when you're put in the position of having to do it. If you can learn how to overcome being afraid to speak and front of large crowds of people then your confidence will soar and you'll feel much better in just about any social situation. There are solutions though that can help you overcome your fears. Here are just a few helpful tips that will make you understand why you're experiencing the feelings you are when you have to speak in front of people. Put these tips into practice and see if your feelings changes.
Know why you're afraid to speak in public:
One thing that will help you get over your fear of public speaking is for you to know why you're afraid of public speaking in the first place. This probably goes back to some bad memory you have a long time ago when you were put in the same position and were probably humiliated. The fear you're experiencing now of public speaking is nothing more than a defense mechanism made up by your subconscious mind to protect you from that same humiliation. You have to learn how to reprogram yourself and get over those past fears so you can go out there and speak in front of groups of people without having all of those irrational fears. Once you understand the root of the problem you can begin to take measures to solve it and move on.
Think of ways you can solve the problem:
Once you figure out the root of the problem, then you have to think of ways you can get over your fear of public speaking. As easy as this might sound, for most people it's not. Thinking of affective ways to get over your fear of public speaking requires you to face your fears even if your fears are brought to life. You need to realize you will still be alive even if the worst happens. The only thing that will be bruised is your ego, which you shouldn't have an ego in the first place when it comes to public speaking, just a healthy confidence.
Put what you have discovered into practice:
Of course the best way to get over your fear of public speaking once you have read the first two steps mentioned above is to actually practice the steps. However you do this is up to you, but you need to start building confidence so that your fears can begin to dissolve. Once you have practiced a little bit, even if it's in a smaller group of people, you will build confidence and speaking in front of large groups of people will present no problem.
Figuring out what the problem is, figuring out ways to solve these problems, and then actually putting these things into practice is the best way to help you overcome your fear of public speaking, but nothing will change if you don't actually do what I've mentioned in this article.
