There are plenty of people out there doing their best to be the next Tony Robbins, or Zig Ziglar, or countless other public speakers. Once you've been to see one of the better speakers, you'll most likely walk away in amazement of how well they were able to pump you up. It's a lot like when you walk out of a really great movie. The great public speakers can leave you uplifted, motivated, and downright excited about the future.
Now compare that picture with the last time you had to attend a sales conference or some other work-related meeting where someone gave a public speaking presentation. Chances are you'd never describe that situation as motivating or exciting. You were probably bored to tears and catching yourself nodding off throughout most of the public speaking presentation. When you get down to it, there's really no difference between the guy giving a sales presentation in front of twenty co-workers, and the great motivational speaker up on stage in front of a couple thousand people.
Sure, the very successful public speaker has probably had a lot more practice. Also, when you're speaking to large groups of people for a living, you tend to do all you can to improve your public speaking presentation so that you'll be asked to speak again. As you do what you can to improve your chances at a career in public speaking, keep in mind these often overlooked principles of audiovisual equipment. Knowing them can save you a lot of embarrassment. Not only that, but the more you know, the more comfortable are....and the more comfortable you are, the better your presentation. That means you'll be asked to speak more often. Before you know it, you've found success in the exciting world of public speaking.
