Public Speaking Training Course: Public Speaking 101
We all tend to have stage fright and have experienced stage fright at one point of our lives. It is that feeling that reaches deep within our stomach making us sick when we are at the stage and people are watching us waiting for you to make a joke out of your ownself. But, there are things you can do to hide the fear and make you look even more professional.
The first words are always the hardest when you are on stage sweating like a pig. The trick here is to say your introduction with your own words. Speaking your own words makes you feel at home and you do not feel the pressure of living up to what your notes is telling you.
Always be prepared with your visual aids and the equipments needed for your presentation. Do a dry run with everything to make sure your visuals are in order and the equipments are working perfectly.
When you feel confident about your speech, never feel confident about the entire situation. There is a hundred percent probability that you will encounter a setback on your presentation which is why you need to have an immediate solution if that happens in the middle of your presentation.
Heading out into the presentation site will help you feel comfortable with the area. The more you get to feel comfortable with your environment, the more you get to be more focused on your presentation.
Never lower yourself down to apologizing for being nervous. People will tend to notice that you are indeed nervous when on the surface you are as calm as the morning sea. It will only make the audience notice every little sign of nervousness on your part making you even nervous.
Breathe evenly at all times if possible. The very moment fear sets in, your body throws itself out the window and everything just goes up and down and out of control. Breathing heavily through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth brings back order into your body and calms you down.
Be careful with your diet and always watch what you eat. Water will help you overwhelm emotions that can dry your mouth and make you look like it is the end of the world in front of many people. Stay away from coffee and other caffeinated beverages as it will elevate your blood pressure and heart rate even more.
