Public Speaking Training: Confident Public Speaking Course - 5 Tips For Better Public Speaking!
Wouldn't it be nice to just be able to get up in front of a group of people and speak on any topic? I remember my first public speaking course I took in college. That was one of my most stressful semesters in college.
On the days that it was my turn to speak. I was a nervous wreck. I would be sweating, my heart would be pounding, and I'd be shaking, and I couldn't wait for my speech to be over.
After I completed my speech course at my college, I wondered why I always felt so nervous when I gave a speech even though I always got outstanding remarks about my speeches.
After some thinking, I realized that I was nervous because I didn't have confident public speaking skills. So, I began to learn more and more about public speaking. I read books, I took more speech courses, and I hired a public speaking coach.
What I've done, is compiled a list of 5 tips that have helped build my confident public speaking skills, and I would like to share them with you, and hopefully it will make you more confident when giving your speeches.
Practice: I found that by simply practicing over and over again helped build my confident public speaking skills over time. My recommendation to you is that you practice in front of a mirror because you'll be able to see what you look like when giving your speech. This will help you analyze how you should move, and how you should use your gestures.
Record Yourself: This is kind of like giving your speech in front of a mirror, but it's a more advanced step. By recording yourself you're able to sit down, just like you were one of the audience members and you'll be able to critique yourself so you can see what you need to improve on.
Visualization: Visualize, what you would want yourself to look like when giving your speech. The key here is repetition. The more you visualize yourself as a confident speaker the better. You might be surprised how much better you'll become just by visualizing.
Posture: When practicing your speech, practice good posture as well. I found that by standing up straight, popping my chest out, and having my chin up really helped boost my confident public speaking skills and this reflected positively on my speeches.
Use Your Friends: Practice your speech in front of your friends. Ask them to critique you. By doing this, you are not risking anything, it's okay to make a mistake in front of your friends because they'll let you know, and then you'll know what not to do or what to do better when your speech is for real.
In conclusion, these five tips I shared with you, are the steps I use to build my confidence when giving speeches. I hope that you'll be able to use these steps as well to build your confident public speaking skills.By: Brian Hausburg: link
