Facilitation & Public Speaking Skills

Back in college, besides providing every student with insurmountable amounts of material to study, nearly every class had one thing in common. It was a lecture. A professor would stand at the front of the room and “talk to” students rather than holding an interactive discussion on the topic at hand. It was this lack of interactive learning that made college difficult for many students. Topics were covered during a presentation but the lack of interactive communication made it difficult for some students to put learned concepts to practical use. In order for training in the corporate world to be effective, it must indeed be interactive. Presentations that are meant to be educational must include audience participation, regardless of whether a presentation is focused on teaching the new features of a piece of industrial equipment or the most effective ways to use a software package. Our Interactive Facilitation and Presentation Skills training program teaches time-tested concepts that ensure that workshops are effective and interactive so that skills can be applied immediately.

Designed as a learner-centered and participatory training seminar, our two-day Interactive Facilitation and Presentation Skills workshop will provide presenters, facilitators and other instructors with an exciting practice-filled program that will lead to immediate results in the training room. The interactive concepts covered in this class are put to use in every module. They are practiced and designed to be utilized immediately upon leaving the seminar so as to make presentations, training sessions and other classes more dynamic and interactive. Training class discussions focus on tips such as the how to anticipate audience attitudes, how to ensure that all participants are involved in a training class and how to maximize learning for every person who attends a presentation. The course will benefit those who must present to large groups during breakout sessions or deliver a product functionality presentation for a company’s IT department. Skills are modeled by a senior level instructor and are applicable to nearly any presentation situation. Seminar learning activities such as personal assessments, group discussions, simulation sessions, videotaping, one-on-one coaching, exercises and other activities help reinforce the interactive learning process.
